Two-term Lake Oswego city councilor says he is the most qualified candidate
Lake Oswego City Councilor Jeff Gudman officially announced his candidacy for state Treasurer on Monday at two events: a 10 a.m. press conference in the Capital rotunda in Salem after filing the required paperwork to run, and at a gathering with supporters at noon in Millennium Plaza Park.
“Look at my educational background, my business experience, my volunteer experience and my electoral experience,” Gudman told a dozen people at the park in downtown Lake Oswego. “Add to that my track record of leading the way in the city in terms of rebuilding infrastructure and living within our means. All of that makes me the best-qualified candidate for state treasurer.”
Gudman, who is currently serving his second four-year term on the council, will likely face state Rep. Tobias Read, a Democrat from Beaverton, and Chris Telfer, a former Republican state senator from Bend who will run as an Independent, in the November 2016 election.
